Allergy Testing

Find Out What's Triggering Your Allergies

Are you tired of constant sneezing, nasal congestion, sinus pressure, itchy eyes, or postnasal drip? At Family ENT & Allergy, we offer comprehensive environmental allergy testing to help identify what may be causing your symptoms.

Conveniently located in Amsterdam, New York, we provide personalized allergy evaluations for patients throughout Upstate New York.

Comprehensive Allergy Testing

We offer a two-step approach to environmental allergy testing, when clinically appropriate, to provide a thorough evaluation of your allergy symptoms.

Step 1: Skin Prick Testing

Skin prick testing is a quick, minimally invasive way to check for sensitivity to common environmental allergens, including:

  • Tree, grass, and weed pollens

  • Dust mites

  • Mold

  • Pet dander

  • Other common environmental triggers

Small amounts of allergen extracts are applied to the skin, and results are typically available within 15–20 minutes.

Step 2: Intradermal Allergy Testing

When appropriate, intradermal testing may follow skin prick testing to further evaluate certain environmental allergens.

A small amount of allergen extract is placed just beneath the surface of the skin to assess for an allergic response.

Using both methods when indicated helps us develop a more complete understanding of your allergy sensitivities.

Who Should Consider Allergy Testing?

Allergy testing may be beneficial if you experience:

  • Persistent nasal congestion or runny nose

  • Frequent sneezing or itchy, watery eyes

  • Chronic postnasal drip

  • Seasonal allergy symptoms

  • Recurrent sinus complaints

  • Symptoms around pets, dust, or outdoor allergens

  • Allergy symptoms that are not adequately controlled with medication

Personalized Allergy Treatment

Once your testing is complete, we will review your results and discuss treatment options based on your symptoms, medical history, and identified allergens.

Treatment may include environmental allergy avoidance, medications, or allergen immunotherapy (allergy shots) for eligible patients.

Our goal is to help you achieve lasting symptom control and improve your quality of life.
